CAMREG Flexible Fund FAQ

CAMREG Flexible Fund Call - 2019

Call for Proposals FAQs

Q: Are there any character/word limit, or particular length in the expression of interest form?

Respondents are not prevented from giving long details in their EoI, if they want to, as there are not character limit, but as the form is only an expression of interest - not the full proposal – the form shouldn’t be more than 3 pages long.

Q: Which projects are eligible for CAMREG Flexible Fund?

Applications are open to all academic staff at UK universities and/or associated research institutions that are eligible for EPSRC funding and that are associated with advanced materials in renewable energy and that are not part of CAMREG core group or funded by the prior flex-funding call.

Further information about CAMREG visit our Funding Call page.

Q: What are included in the funding support, such as T&S, PDRA and consumables etc.?

The University of Edinburgh holds the CAMREG grant and will make flex-funds available via a contract agreed between Edinburgh and the successful universities.  Flex-funded projects will be subject to EPSRC procurement rules and will require successful universities to enter a CAMREG Collaboration Agreement. The research project funds are intended to support post-doctoral research staff with a modest allowance for subsistence and travel to meetings and conference participation.  Investigator, research staff, infrastructure technicians, estates, other directly allocated and indirect costs must be shown (in a manner similar to JeS) in the application submitted. Applications must be based on full FEC and show the contribution to be made by the grant (80% FEC) as stated below.

This CAMREG call for proposals against its flexible fund aims to support up to 6 projects contributing with a funding of only the 80%of each project's total budget, which will value up to £50,000.

Q: Can a proposal be submitted which is not in any of the themes that are specified in the Call Document? Is it extricty necesary to submit a proposal which is closely related to CAMREG 3 themes?.

The flex-funded projects should align with the general approach of CAMREG in that they should be cross-disciplinary, potentially transformative, have industry partnership and high-risk projects with the intention to progress to a full proposal if successful. They do not need to exactly align with the existing keystone projects in terms of scientific focus.

If your project ideas match with the Camreg objectives as expressed above then we will be very pleased to receive your expression of interest.
